Iranian Navy destroyer test-fires missile

Iran has successfully test-fired a new domestically manufactured surface-to-surface missile from a destroyer in the Persian Gulf.

The Nour missile was launched from Iran’s new destroyer, the Jamaran, and successfully hit mock targets at a distance of 100 kilometers on Tuesday, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Fariborz Qaderpanah told the Mehr News Agency.

The exercise was also a test of the new destroyer’s ability to launch missiles.

The Jamaran, the first destroyer designed and manufactured by Iranian experts, joined the Navy fleet in a ceremony attended by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in February, Qaderpanah said.

He also stated that the Jamaran is ready to engage in peaceful missions in international waters.
